Why Your Location Is Checked — and How to Clear It

firstbetpro runs a geolocation check every time you open the app or site because access depends on state law — only eligible states can reach the platform.

What the Geolocation Check Actually Does

When you land on firstbetpro, our system pings your device for a location signal — pulling from your device's GPS, your Wi-Fi network data, and your IP address together. All three signals are cross-checked against our approved state list. If even one signal looks off — say, a stale IP from a VPN or a browser that has location permission blocked —

the check throws an error. That error doesn't mean your account is suspended; it means the location handshake didn't complete. Clearing it is almost always a settings fix on your end, not a support ticket.

Reach Us While You Sort Your Location Issue

If the self-serve steps below don't resolve your geolocation error, our account team can review your device signals directly. Have your state, device model, and browser or app version ready before you reach out — it cuts the back-and-forth significantly.

Team online

Live Chat

Open the chat icon from the account menu. Share your state and the exact error message you see — our team can pull your location log and identify which signal is failing.

Email Support

Send a screenshot of the error to our support address listed in your account settings. Include your device type and OS version so we can match the fix to your setup.

In-App Location Reset

From the firstbetpro app, go to Account, then Settings, then Location Permissions. Tap Reset Location Data to clear any cached signal and trigger a fresh geolocation check.

WHY CHECKS ARE REQUIRED

How We Handle Location Verification Honestly

Our geolocation process follows state-by-state access rules — we don't set these requirements, but we do apply them consistently so that access is fair and lawful for every account. Here's what that looks like in practice.

State-By-State Compliance

Access is determined by the state you're physically located in at login, not your billing address or home state. Players in Philadelphia and Chicago must be inside an eligible state when the check runs.

No Data Stored Beyond the Check

Your precise GPS coordinates are used only to confirm state eligibility at that moment. We don't store a movement history or share location data with third parties outside the verification process.

Third-Party Location Technology

We use an established geolocation provider — not a home-built system — to run the state boundary check. That means the boundary lines are kept current as state rules change.

Error Codes Are Specific, Not Generic

When a check fails, the error message tells you which signal failed — GPS, IP, or browser permission — so you know exactly what to fix rather than guessing at a solution.

Geolocation Terms You'll See in Error Messages

These are the terms that show up in location error screens and support responses. Knowing what each one means makes the fix much faster.

What is a geolocation check?

An automated process that reads your device's GPS, Wi-Fi data, and IP address to confirm you're physically inside a state where access is permitted under local law.

What does 'IP mismatch' mean?

Your IP address is pointing to a different state or country than your GPS signal. Usually triggered by a VPN, a corporate network proxy, or an outdated mobile carrier IP.

What is a location boundary error?

The system detected your position near or outside a state's legal boundary. Even being a few miles past the line triggers this; moving to the center of an eligible state resolves it.

What does 'location permission denied' mean?

Your browser or device OS has blocked the site from reading GPS. You need to enable location access in your browser settings or device app permissions to pass the check.

What is a cached location signal?

An older GPS or network reading stored by your device or browser that the check reads instead of a fresh signal. Clearing your browser cache or resetting app location data removes it.

What does VPN detection mean in this context?

Our system flagged that traffic is routed through a virtual private network. VPNs mask your real location; disabling the VPN lets the check read your actual state correctly.

Answers to the Location Errors You're Seeing

These are the questions our account team gets most often about geolocation checks — answered directly so you can fix the issue without waiting on chat.

The most common cause is a VPN running in the background. Even a VPN set to a US city can mask your actual state. Turn it off, force-close the app or browser, and reopen to trigger a clean check.

Go to Settings, scroll to the firstbetpro app, tap Location, and select While Using the App. Then return to the app and refresh the page — the check will re-run automatically with the fresh GPS signal.

Open Settings, go to Apps, find firstbetpro, tap Permissions, then Location, and choose Allow Only While Using the App. Relaunch the app and the geolocation check will restart with your current position.

Some mobile carriers route data through out-of-state servers, which makes your IP appear to be in a different state. Switch from mobile data to a local Wi-Fi network and try the check again.

Yes, the check runs at every session start. If you move between states between sessions — say, traveling for an NFL game weekend — the check will reflect your current physical location, not your home state.

Clear your browser's cached location data or, in the app, go to Account, Settings, Location Permissions, and tap Reset Location Data. That forces a fresh GPS read. If the error persists, contact live chat with your device model and OS version.
